The following song from Shrek explains Catharines love story in the novel, and how she "accidentally" fell deeply in love during her stay at Thrushcross Grange to cure her wounded leg (leg was bitten by a dog).
Hahahaha this is funny. I love this song from Shrek and I agree with your description above. However, the mood and tone of the song is way off from the actual tone and mood of the relationship in the story. Nevertheless, great song! :)
Hmm... Now I think this is debatable but do you guys really think she fell in love with Edgar while she was at Thrushcross Grange? Also, we must keep in mind that she wasn't truly in love with Edgar because it was Heathcliff who the love of her life (and she even admits as much in the kitchen). I am actually not sure myself when and how much she fell in love with Edgar... I feel like she mostly just thought he was a decent guy (because of his manners and behaviour) but she wasn't emotionally attracted and connected to him in the same way that she was with Heathcliff.
